Fireworks and Museums! // This Week We…

Hello and welcome back to the blog! This week has been CHALLENGING when we weren’t visiting fireworks and museums and has been host to a whole load of emotions. I spent the whole of Wednesday crying, lack of sleep, a raging outer ear infection, cough and still recovering from my C-section whilst looking after a new-born and a toddler was just seriously too much for me. Stewart was at home, but he was working so couldn’t even take a mass of the parenting off me. Stewart having only a week off work was not ideal when you’ve got to come up with a brand new routine together. Lincoln really did come and shake things up.

Stewart was back to in office working this week which meant I spent a lot of time at my mums. It really sucks that my support network is a 30 minute drive away though. I know I can deal with looking after the two babes on my own, just whilst I’m so run down and my body is recovering from so many things I am finding it particularly hard but I am finding a lot of comfort in the fact that it’s going to get a lot easier as time goes on.

Over the weekend we went to see Stewart’s grandparents, they’d not yet met Lincoln and it was nice to let them meet him, The only person left to meet him now is my Grandad Ian who’s currently working away. After we’d been to see the grandparents we went for some lunch in a local pub, it was the first time eating out with both our children. We then went home and searched avidly for an available bonfire and firework display to take Minnie too. Last year she as far too young to really appreciate and understand what was going on and this year, holy moly, she bloody adored it and it was the best £12 we ever spent.

Sunday, we decided to go to the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. Again, something we wanted to do with Minnie. It’s been such a stressful 3 weeks trying to adjust to family life of 4 and we have made much more of a conscious effort to keep Minnie amused and in the loop as much as possible so that she didn’t feel left out, boundaries have been tested though and I’ve noticed her firing out a lot more paddy’s than usual. I wasn’t entirely sure she was going to enjoy the museum if I’m honest, and she didn’t until she got into the room where they keep all of the trains and tractors and then she ran around finding all the choo choo’s whilst pointing and shouting ”choo choo!”
